YOUTH EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
YOUTH CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Those served: Community and congregational youth from age 3 through grade 12.
The purpose: To equip life-long learners who continue with their desire to grow in knowledge and faith in God; to pass on faith in mission to future generations; to respond to God’s call to service to make a difference in this world; and to support our families in nurturing faith, mission, and service in their homes
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Our Sunday School meets year-round from 9:15 – 10:15 a.m.
• Three year olds through kindergarten meet in the basement rooms.
• 1st - 6th grades meet in the classrooms on the first floor Education Wing.
• 7th - 8th grades meet upstairs in the office above the Church Office.
• 9th - 12th grades meet upstairs in the Youth Room, near the auditorium.
STEPPING STONES
Stepping Stones provides support to families at major life experiences and remembers our Baptism into Christ. Worship Celebrations and Education Events are held for “Entering Sunday School”, “Third Grade First Bible”, “First Communion Retreat”, “Confirmation”, and “Graduation”.
CONFIRMATION CLASSES
Confirmation is a teaching and fellowship ministry for 7th and 8th grade students, to learn the basic truths about Jesus and the Lutheran faith. Students gather on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. for study, throughout the school year. At the end of two years of study, participants can be "confirmed", in a rite of the church where they receive the blessing of the whole church.
MICAH'S WALK
Micah's Walk is a lively worship/learning ministry for children and adults. Held at 9:20 a.m. each Sunday in the auditorium, participants learn Bible stories, share the love of Jesus together, and make occasional "visits" to faraway places where Christians also worship. During the second half hour, participants divide by age into small groups for discussion and additional learning.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
For children three years old and potty trained through children who have completed the Sixth Grade. It is held during June for one week, 8:30-noon each weekday. Students learn from plays, Bible study, crafts, recreation, and music based on a Scriptural theme.
